Why Chiropractic?

Updated: Mar 14, 2020

You may be asking yourself what chiropractic is and why you should pursue chiropractic care.

The central nervous system, which is comprised of the brain and spinal cord, is the master control system of the body. The brain communicates with the body via the spinal cord and nerves, which are carefully protected by the spine. When we go through stress in life, whether through our job, constantly taking care of our children, or playing sports, the spine can actually shift out of alignment, contributing to the dysfunction of the nervous system. This not only causes neck pain, back pain and irritation but it also results in the dysfunction of cells, organs and tissues of the body. This is what we refer to as a Vertebral Subluxation Complex.

Chiropractic care is the practice of correcting subluxations of the spine through the use of objective analysis and specific, gentle adjustments to re-align and improve the motion of the spinal bones. This then ensures the proper functionality of the central nervous system, allowing the body to heal naturally and letting it operate at 100% of its health potential.

In this sense, chiropractic does not use drugs or surgery but rather, it honours the body's innate ability to heal naturally.

What is Principled Chiropractic Care?

While all chiropractic care focuses on healing the body through the spine, Principled chiropractic is different in that it operates on a model of maintaining and preserving optimal health throughout your life, not just when you are feeling symptoms. Symptom-alleviating chiropractic care can effectively provide temporary relief but true actual Principled Correction can provide you with life-long health benefits.

At Joy of Living Chiropractic we practice Principled Chiropractic care and we recommend regular preventative care to maintain spinal health for years. Would you wait until your engine broke to change your oil? Probably not. Would you wait until you have a a tooth infection to start brushing your teeth? The same applies to the health of your spine. Never wait for pain or injury - practice routine maintenance on your body instead!
